CHAPTER 02 / SEARCH & DELIVER

MONOCHROME Roblox: all four keys

Four keys, four deadbolts, four indicator lights. The elevator stays shut until every light is green — and unlike the code, the keys cannot be shortcut by reading someone else's guide.

IN A HURRY?

Open every drawer. Deliver each key. Check for four green lights.

Why there is no list of four room names here. Community wikis state plainly that permanent individual key rooms are not confirmed. They describe keys as being found by searching furniture in the corridor network, not at set coordinates. A list of four fixed rooms would be a guess dressed up as an answer.

What determines whether you find them

Since you cannot memorise locations, the variable you control is search efficiency. In a corridor network built to look repetitive, the run is won or lost on one question: do you know which rooms you have already emptied?

Players who fail usually did not miss a hidden room. They searched the same three rooms twice while being chased, ran out of patience, and concluded the game was broken.

What can hold a key

TargetNote
DressersPrimary key container. Open every drawer, not just the top one.
Drawers & cabinetsFound in furniture clusters. Often skipped when players are being chased.
Furniture roomsRooms with multiple pieces are worth a full sweep before moving on.

Press E to interact. Open every drawer in a piece of furniture before you call the room done — a dresser is not one search, it is several.

A search order that survives being chased

  1. Pick a staircase as home base

Every sweep starts and ends at a landmark you can find again under pressure.

  2. Clear one branch at a time, completely

Take a single branch off a junction and finish every piece of furniture in it. Half-clearing three branches is strictly worse than fully clearing one.

  3. Log the room before you move on

Name it by landmark and direction — "left of second junction" — not by what was in it. Use the tracker below so a panic sprint does not erase your progress.

  4. Deliver keys as you get them

Carry each key back to the lock panel rather than hoarding. A delivered key is a green light that no monster can take away from you.

RUN TRACKER / PERSONAL FIELD NOTES

Your run

Keys and the code are different every run, so this tracks yours. Saved in your browser only.

Keys delivered

0 / 4

Tap a key once you have carried it to the lock panel.

Elevator code (this run)

Write it down the moment you see it on the block. Re-walking the maze to re-read it is the most common time sink.

Corridors repeat, so the hard part is remembering where you have already been. Name rooms by their landmark — "stairs junction", "closet corner", "double dresser".

    Nothing logged yet.

    Landmarks worth memorising

    LandmarkWhy it matters
StairsYour anchor back to the entrance level. Learn which corridor each staircase feeds into.
JunctionsCorridors repeat, junctions do not repeat as often. Count them instead of counting doors.
ClosetsDouble as hiding spots. Knowing where the nearest one is matters when you hear the monster.
Furniture clustersMark which clusters you have already emptied so you never search the same room twice.
Elevator lobbyWhere the lock panel lives. Every key run ends here.

    Common questions

Do keys respawn in the same place each run?

Not reliably. Permanent key rooms are not confirmed by the community wikis, which is why search method beats memorisation here.

Can another player take my key?

MONOCHROME runs servers of up to 20 players. Treat delivering a key promptly as the safe play rather than carrying several at once.

I have four keys but the elevator will not open

Check that all four indicator lights are actually green — carrying a key is not the same as delivering it. Then re-check the code digits. See the code page.
